Where is thy stings?

Definitely you'd be awake one day to watch your body just laying there, people wailing and crying then it dawns on you that the uninvited stranger came overnight (that's if you're lucky enough to die a peaceful way) scary right? Yeah I know, it won't be so scary If you live your life the right way.

Where is thy Stings?

by Omowumi Mary

Some days back I stared at a certain picture of me and the first thing that came to my mind was ” so one day I am going to grow old and die, omo!”

A sudden wave of sadness swept me off instantly.
I wasn’t one to get sad about matters of death, yes! I am not afraid to die for even in it I am secured but somehow it’s thoughts always makes me do things right.

I can’t fix why I felt sad that day. I looked at my mom and saw how old she is become comparing the first times I knew her as a child to be my mum, often I glance at her pictures when she was much more younger and those pictures of her fills my skin with goosebumps as I ponder on the realities of getting older enshrined in the mystery called TIME.
I mean, It’s hard to believe my mom was once a teenager, or a baby! Wait so my grandma was once a baby too?
Dahz creizyyy!

Every woman loves being told she looks young, get that “you look sweet sixteen” compliment and clearly you find most elderly women try as much to appear younger, even their husbands crave for and love the sight of it.
But would that write off the realities of getting old?

As a little child I used to tell my mom that when her hair turns gray I’d buy the whole black paint in the world and paint her hair black lol . Now, each time she tries pulling off the gray strands I just smile and remind her that all her hair will eventually turn gray and she would ask ” What happened to the paint you said you were going to use to design my hair when it eventually turns gray?…and then we both laugh it off.

Age will hit you prepared or not, waking up someday to be 80 years old, not as strong and excited as your youthful age then you can only count and recount how useful, strong, pretty, handsome, charming or useless you were at 20 years old. Some other days it feels you where 30 not too long ago.
That’s wow!

Definitely you’d be awake one day to watch your body just laying there, people wailing and crying then it dawns on you that the uninvited stranger came overnight (that’s if you’re lucky enough to die a peaceful way) scary right? Yeah I know, it won’t be so scary If you live your life the right way.
But then Maybe I’m not scared of dieing, maybe I’m scared of getting old and seeing the people I love die. I’m scared of being left with empty feelings and regrets about the things I should have done right…

Do you also think of this event? You should!…
It keeps you immune to its stings even when it happens.
